Munsin Art Gallery
The Munsin Art Gallery was first opened in 1984 celebrating '59 years of
Munshin art'. Munsin returned to Korea from France in 1980 and the museum exhibits his lifetime work on the hill of 51-1 Choosan-dong Masan city in about 2,300 pyong. The wife of Mr. Munsin has been managing the museum since he passed away and in obedience to the will of his lifetime, she donated it to Masan city on June 2003.
The museum was constructed throughout 15 years like Mr. Munshin were sculpturing, grinding and finishing pine trees and hard ebony, which was his main materials for his sculpture pieces.
During this time, he had participated as many as 10 international invitation exhibitions and gained worldwide popularity through the several retrospectives.
Samjin Art Center
An individual (Director, Seong Yim-dae) is renovating Sanjin Art Center, formerly Sangbuk elementary school that was closed, developing the local art museum sector. The museum exhibits artwork, calligraphy, ceramics and art crafts.The center that opened on September 25, 2000 serves as a main role in creative art by grafting traditional culture of Samjin at the century of 2000 and is providing features 8 exhibition, moveable spot lights and facilities of additional lobby to the citizens.
Masan Municipal Museum
Masan is situated in southeastern extremity, the center coast of southern Kyungsan province of Korean peninsula. The city is known for its genuine art from the past as well as history and culture living through tradition.The museum was opened on September 12, 2001 as a commemoration project for the city's 100 years anniversary for opening of the port. The purpose of museum is to exhibit, collect and preserve the city's traditional culture that is vanishing amidst fast modernization and urban transformation.
Two stories building with 1 basement in 1,600 square meter scale, it has two exhibition halls, a screen room and information retrieving center. The exhibition hall is comprised in a project exhibition and an outdoor exhibition hall.
Masan Music Center
The center was opened on June 15, 2005 to provide a place to practice its culture through excellent music history of Masan and to contribute in revitalizing local culture by succeeding spiritual art of Masan's musicians.The center exhibits all kinds of art data which were donated by musicians like Lee Yil-rae, Cho Du-nam, Ban Ya-wol and Lee Soo-in in order to promote their realm of hart to visitors as well as rich fragrance of Masan music.
Although Masan music experienced the vortex of grim history through the Japanese colonial and liberation period, it had taken the past as an opportunity to introspect, taking an important role to develop the local culture.
