The foundation was established through a joint investment between the Gyeongsangnam-do Provincial Government, the Masan City Government, colleges and universities and many local companies located in the Gyeongsangnam-do Area, and the Masan Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Masan Valley aims to support and develop the information technology (IT) and telecommunication industries.

The 21st century is the era when the digital revolution, called the second industrial revolution, will boom around the world.
During this time, the foundation intends to construct a good environment where many venture companies can grow.
This is possible through the cooperation of public organizations and domestic and overseas companies specializing in these industries.
In the future, the foundation plans to create the Korean Silicon Valley.

In addition, the Gyeongsangsam-do area will be the leading mecca for incubating high tech venture industries through the construction of a cooperative system with large companies and research institutes.
With the frontier mindset of determining potential future industries earlier than competitors, we will be leading the steps toward the growth of venture industries, thus buttressing Korean industries and contributing to the economic development of Korea.

Background of establishment

• Gyeongsangnam-do is the area where small companies actively start and grow. It is located at the center of the Southeastern Industrial Belt of Korea
  • (Changwon, Masan, Gimhae and Haman) where venture type small companies are easy to find and have ease in marketability.
• The construction of a venture oriented techno-valley is required to maximize the concentration effect of venture companies.
  • With the success of the U.S. Silicon Valley, the concentration effect of high tech industries in one area has been confirmed to be great. (Construction of high tech valley is the international trend).
  • By benchmarking domestic high tech valleys such as Tehran Valley and Daedeok Valley, it is imperative that a techno valley be also constructed in the Gyeongsangnam-do area.
• It intends to make venture companies grow into high value-creating companies, thereby helping the local economy boom.
