Chrysanthemum

Flowers
Origin The chrysanthemum flower industry began in six farmhouses in a Hoewon sub-district in 1960, and by 1971, 1200 different kinds of flowers had been exported to Hagwan, Japan.
One year later, the Masan Hoewon Side Job Complex was established, allowing the burgeoning flower industry to expand to Usan, Hoeseong, Songjeong, Hyeondong and Naeso by 1978.
On top of that, the Masan-Changwon Association was established in 1980, at which time 50 farmhouses were involved in cultivating flowers.
Currently, there are 202 farmhouses on 100 hectares that engage in this process. Recently cultivated species include chrysanthemums (Jilhwaryu), roses (Bunhwaryu), cycads (Hwamokryu), Yonsanhong (Kwansangsuryu), magnolias, aromatic trees, maples, box trees, camellia seeds, and Okhyang trees.
The prospects of an ever-brighter flower industry can be attributed not only to industrial development, but also to the development of the cultural and artistic consciousness of Masan's citizens.
