Cheon Sang-byeong, poet

Cheon Sang-byeong Cheon Sang-byeong was born in 1930 in Jindong-myeon, Masan-si, Gyeongnam.
He liked drinking very much and there were many episodes that occurred as a result of his drinking.
He is known as a poet with a clean soul.
He attended Sangbuk Elementary School and spent his childhood in his hometown.
He was involved in many events which he could still remember even after he was much older.
He moved to Japan with his family during the Japanese occupation period and came back to Korea after the Second World War. He entered Masan Middle School and stayed in Masan.
He liked reading very much and as he was too poor to buy books, he went to the bookshop every day to read.
He was very much influenced by his middle school Korean teacher, Kim Chun-su, who was also a poet. Cheon often showed his poems to Kim.
His poem, The River, was published in the magazine Munye (Literature) upon the recommendation of Kim Chun-su and Yu Chi-hwan.
He died on April 28, 1993. Some of his famous poems are Bird, Gwicheon (Return to Heaven), Pubs, and prose I Am All Right.
